When I got my Compaq notebook several years ago it was the first modification to it, turn the touchpad off. I prefer to use a mouse...

I didn't know such a thing existed. If I recall correctly, when I needed to disable a touchpad, I removed the driver.

On the model Compaq I had, there was a little red led light in the top left hand corner of the touch pad that you tapped. It then turned off and no problems with the tp when using a mouse...
