I am going to return my current laptop to the store for an exchange, due to it not functioning properly. So how do I go abouts doing a full restore to factory settings? How can i do it, by putting it back to factory settings, to where the next person who may use it, during the exchange, turns it on and has to go through all the steps of activating it for themselves etc.

Do not return it to the place of purchase, instead phone the manufacture and tell them your problem. They will give you a RMA number to include when you send it back to them.

They will check it for repairs or replacement under warranty.

Sorry but I plan to do an exchange of the machine instead. The place of purchase has warranty for the device and Dell has warranty of the device. I think shipping it out to Dell and having them repair it, would not be good. They would likely charge me addition costs if more damage is found or something. I will just do a system restore plain and simple.
